I'm loving it. I grew up with a passion for gardening and plants, and an archaeologist for a father. It seemed only natural, but I got a bit of a late start. Hello!

Welcome to the group! Do they actually have courses for that now? That is amazing! That is an area of interest to me, too, but admittedly my emphasis is ancient Egypt. :)

"archaeoethnobotany"? Cool! Honestly, I sometimes feel a bit like that what I've been studying & practicing. (I have an MSTOM degree, which means traditional chinese medical herbology (and acupuncture)).

Too bad you're on the west coast. If you were here (NYC), you might like the exhibit that the met has at the moment: Medicine of Ancient Egypt.

Yes, they do. It's a very poorly-advertised subfield of archaeology, though people come into it from both anthro backgrounds and botany backgrounds. I'm sure it can be impossible to find a class on it, in some places, though I've found a combination of botany, ethnobotany, and archaeology classes works well. It's a field one would a higher degree in - anthro, then arch, then archaeoethnobotany.

heh...Sounds like Egyptology! It's publish or perish in fields like these I am afraid.
