x-post: lymph
Mar. 5th, 2005 11:43 amthis is an open call for suggestions on the best way to support the lymphatic system & encourage drainage of lymph nodes, especially in the face.
also, any suggestions on supporting/stimulating the salivary glands? i've been having continual problems with my parotid & submandibular glands for years now.
thanks in advance.

Date: 2005-03-06 04:43 am (UTC)Probably the best lymphatic is:
Cleavers (Gallium aparine)
-parts used: dried aerial parts or fresh juice
-actions: diuretic, alterative, anti-inflammatory, tonic, astringent, anti-neoplastic.
-common uses: swollen glands, lymphadenitis, tonsilitis, adenoid problems, psoriasis (dry type), cyctitis, etc...
-common dosage:
1. infusion: 2-3 teaspoons dried herb infused in a cup of hot water 10-15 minutes. Strain and drink three times per day, or
2. tincture: 2-4 ml three times per day
If Cleavers proves insufficient, you may investigate combining it with a SMALL amount of:
Poke (Phytolacca americana)
-part used: root
-actions: anti-rheumatic, stimulant, anti-catarrhal, purgative, emetic
-common uses: catarrh, tonsilitis, laryngitis, swollen glands, adenitis, mumps, mastitis, rheumatism, etc.
-common dosage:
1. decoction: 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon dried root boiled gently in a cup of water for 10-15 minutes. Strain and drink three times per day.
2. tincture: 1/2 to 1 ml three times per day.
*** Danger: This herb can be poisonous in sufficient quantity! Do NOT exceed these dosages without expert supervision! ***
