Anyone know any direct action being taken to stop the Codex Alimentarius? I've already read about writing to the same old legislators and lobbying and all of that -- I am wondering if there are people going to Rome in July to protest the meetings happening around the Codex...Cuz it's scary.

There are plenty of people that are going from this country, so you need not fear. The problem is, the public has been whipped up into a frenzy, most notably byu Mr. Hammell of the IAHF. In the years that I have been on the internet, since the beginning of 1995, Mr. Hammell has been screaming bloody murder about the FDA, and this law and that law. Everything is urgent, everything is desperate, and he always spends alot of time sqawking about how money is needed NOW for their cause NOW to pay for their legal bills, travelling here and yon and nothing ever changes.

Next month there will be more screaming, and more squawking by Mr. Hammell on his email list. And along with that he will have the same belligerent, belittling and holier-than-thou tone that he has with anyone who has the temerity to voice even the most minute of objections to his facts or his methods.

There are enough of us out there, and I am sure more than just a few are in this community who are paying attention to these issues and I know of several herbalists who will be there to protest. The key for the public to know is to determine when a threat is real, and when someone is turning up the volume for added effect - especially if donations are being sought. I is a good idea to be vigilant, but we do best if we don't go looking for boogeymen under every rock either.
