Hey everyone. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any natural painkillers. I've been in a lot of pain for a long time, and while the doctors THOUGHT they had it figured out (and removed my kidney as a result), the pain still has not gone away. My main doctor thinks that I'm making up the pain to get more narcotics, so I am quitting the narcotics. However, tylenol, ibuprofren, and aspirin don't do a thing for me to kill the pain.

Are there any (legal) herbal remedies I can take for pain? I've heard there are some out there, but so far haven't found out what they are. One person mentioned "kratom" but when I read up on it, it does sound a BIT scary, at least if used long term.

And yes, I've tried acupuncture and chiropractic as well with no luck....

Oh, and the pain is left flank pain, pain throughout my legs, and some abdominal pain. The doctors can't find anything wrong....at least not yet. Meanwhile, I'm just trying to find a way to function, meanwhile...if that makes any sense? Without narcotics for the pain, I pretty much can't move from my bed, but with them, the doctors aren't really listening to me.

I think kratom is just what you're looking for.
Wikipedia article. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kratom)
Erowid Vault. (http://www.erowid.org/plants/kratom/kratom.shtml)

Read up on it and decide if it's for you. A lot of people dealing with chronic pain who don't want to spend their lives popping pills seem to regard it as a miracle plant. Mind you it's not without its risks, but all evidence seems to indicate that it's a lot safter than opiates. Best of luck.

I've read that jamaican dogwood is good for pain, but I've never used it myself nor do I know if it's strong enough for your situation.

There are a lot of natural pain killers around. Most do not work as quickly or as effectively as drugs, especially narcotics, but they are at least alot less stress on the system. Though with only one kidney you should be careful what you do take. The NSAIDS, like Ibuprofen, aspirin, etc, put extra strain on the kidney, so I wouldn't be using them if not necessary.
Obviously it would be good to get to cause of the pain.
Try a combination of Curcumin (tumeric), Ginger, Devils Claw, Bromelain, Willow bark. Usually quite high doses are needed initially, especially if you have been using opoids. You should be able to find something with a similar type of combination. Just check your suitability with other medications that you may be on.
Hope this helps WD
